Sometimes even the dirt has a way of looking like magic. Sometimes when it all seems to make your eyes water, the most beautiful things emerge.

“The Sound of Silence” Simon and Garfunkle
In restless dreams I walked alone narrow streets of cobblestone, ‘Neath the halo of a street lamp. I turned my collar to the cold and damp. When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, that split the night and touched the sound of silence.
Went running tonight by myself. No music, no phone, no watch. I just ran. The best part about going out there alone is that when you do your absolute best, you know in your heart that you didn’t do that for anyone else. Just for you and for the sake of running. Its a pretty amazing feeling. Its so satisfying you cant help but smile. Im going to bed with a big grin on my face :) goodnight Tumblr.

This cropped photo is from a lo-res image of a poignant photo taken by Rich Clarkson, a preeminent sports photographer. This is a grainy black and white copy of a color photo posted on his web page (link below) along those of other notable Olympic athletes. His photography s remarkable!
